JYSK Poland: Retail Growth, Logistics Shift
JYSK, the Danish home furnishing retailer, has been expanding steadily in Poland. This analysis examines the company’s revenues from 2018–2024, highlighting growth drivers and recent strategic shifts. The company reports both their retail (domestic sales) and inter-company flows (operational revenues) in their financial statements.
Retail
Retail revenues increased from €273 million in 2018 to €455 million in 2024, representing a 66% increase (approx. 9% CAGR). The growth partially comes from an increase in stores. Back in 2018 JYSK operated 220 stores, which steadily grew to 310 in 2024. The average revenue per store grew slightly from roughly €1,25 million in 2018 to €1,40 million turnover per store in 2024.
Inter-company flow
Poland, as a major producer, is also a logistics hub for the distribution of furniture. The export, inter-company flow between JYSK retail countries, in Poland has declined by 45% since 2022. This has been part of the logistics strategy in JYSK to be closer to the markets.
In particular, the opening of the distribution terminal in Ecser Hungary in the end of 2022 has impacted the flow. The flow to Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia used to be €320 million, and has been reduced to €40 million. At the same time, exports to Germany increased. The warehouse headcount in DC Radomsko was only slightly impact with a -13% decrease.
Overall, JYSK’s retail operations in Poland show steady growth driven by store expansion and stable per-store performance. At the same time, Poland’s role as a logistics hub is diminishing as distribution capacity shifts closer to regional markets. The company thus balances a strong domestic retail presence with a leaner international logistics footprint.
