Instagram Social Tracker Methodology

Proprietary social visibility tracking for major furniture retailers, based on curated retailer coverage, reviewed Instagram account mapping, and biweekly snapshot updates.

What the dataset measures

The dataset follows selected Instagram accounts for important furniture retailers and publishes comparable account-level metrics such as follower count, follower change, posting activity, and observed post engagement. It is designed as a professional market-intelligence dataset, not as a broad directory of every local furniture store.

Main limitationThe tracker measures social visibility and audience momentum, not sales, traffic, advertising spend, or conversion

Curated retailer universe

Furnilytics starts from its own retailer-location and market-ranking work to focus on the larger retailers that matter for market benchmarking. This avoids diluting the dataset with thousands of small or local accounts and keeps the output aligned with commercially relevant furniture retail coverage.

Reviewed account mapping

Instagram handles are reviewed before inclusion. Furnilytics distinguishes between country-specific accounts and wider group accounts so that cross-country comparisons remain transparent. Account mapping is kept under review as retailers change brands, channels, or social-media structures.

Published metrics

Customer-facing fields focus on metrics that are useful for benchmarking: latest followers, follower movement over time, posting frequency, average observed post engagement, and the latest observed activity date. The dataset is structured for dashboards, retailer comparisons, and API-based monitoring.

Quality and interpretation

The tracker combines automated refreshes with a reviewed account universe and retained snapshot history. Early historical comparisons are only shown once enough Furnilytics snapshots exist. Social metrics should be read as indicators of visibility and audience momentum rather than direct measures of revenue, conversion, or store performance.
